My research interests concern the relations between subjective experiences and socio-cultural conditions, norms and practices concerning (mental) health and distress. From a vantage point in qualitative bereavement research, I am currently interested in examining how global crises of climate, ecology and sustainability intersect with mental health and distress. E.g., examinations of individual and collective emotional responses to crisis and loss, examinations of “social imageries” (Taylor, 2004) and cultural concepts of health and well-being in the face of global crises, and development of research methodologies and conceptual frameworks for analyzing the complex dynamics between individual experiences and societal conditions.
