Psyche Talks

The research section PSYCHE at The Department of Communication and Psychology at Aalborg University is proud to present the second round of PSYCHE Talks.

Tania Zittoun, Professor of Sociocultural Psychology at the University of Neuchâtel will be interviewed by Sarah Awad, Associate Professor of Sociocultural Psychology at Aalborg University.

Tania Zittoun is known for her work on development and transitions through the lifecourse. She has contributed to our knowledge about how humans transition through life rupturing events and how they use different symbolic resources in this process. Her work also covers the areas of mobility, aging, imagination, and thinking. Her books include The Pleasure of Thinking (CUP, 2023), Imagination in Human and Cultural development, with Alex Gillespie (Routledge, 2016) and the Handbook of Culture and Imagination with Vlad P. Glaveanu (OUP, 2018).

Sarah Awad is known for her work on the use of images in social and political movements. She has also studied the influence of social and political changes on individual life trajectories and the use of art and storytelling as part of activism. Her books include Remembering as a cultural process, with Brady Wagoner and Ignacio Brescó de Luna (Springer, 2019) and Street Art of Resistance with Brady Wagoner (Palgrave, 2017).

In this interview, they will discuss the meaning of change on the personal, social and environmental level and the role of imagination, thinking, and symbolic resources in making sense of and transitioning through change.
