Resume

The research group TEN (Time, Existence, and Nature Connectedness), within the Art, Aesthetics & Health section at Aalborg University’s Department of Communication and Psychology, invites you to its third seminar on Existential Sustainability (Væredygtighed), to be held on November 20, 2025, at Aalborg University, Musikkens Hus, room 445, 4th floor.

The first seminar in 2022, “Existential Sustainability – The Human Side of Sustainability”, explored the existential dimensions of nature connectedness from a philosophical standpoint. The second seminar in 2023, “Care for the Living: The Role of Art in the Climate and Biodiversity Crisis”, highlighted the aesthetic dimension of nature connectedness, with a particular focus on art.

In 2023 and 2024, TEN researchers published two key volumes:

  • Hansen, Eide & Leget (eds.), Wonder, Silence, and Human Flourishing: Toward a Rehumanization of Health, Education, and Welfare (2023)
  • Mølholm & Hansen (eds.) (in print), Tid, Eksistens og Naturforbundethed (Forlaget Eksistens).

With this year’s seminar, we take the next step by asking: How can neo-animist and eco-spiritual approaches illuminate the relation between human existence and nature connectedness? In what ways might such perspectives enrich the concept of existential sustainability and cultivate contemplative, practical pathways to deepening our felt connection with the living world today?
