Carolin Demuth invited as guest professor at Ritsumeikan University, Japan

Associate Professor Carolin Demuth was invited as guest professor to teach Cultural Psychology at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, this spring. The invitation is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Institute of Communication & Psychology at AAU and the College of Comprehensive Psychology, Ritsumeikan University. The Centre for Cultural Psychology at AAU organizes yearly visits to Aalborg of Prof. Sato and his students. In turn, Ritsumeikan university invites cultural psychologists from AAU to teach at Ritsumeikan University once a year.

Associate Professor Carolin Demuth was invited as guest professor to teach Cultural Psychology at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, this spring. The invitation is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Institute of Communication & Psychology at AAU and the College of Comprehensive Psychology, Ritsumeikan University. The Centre for Cultural Psychology at AAU organizes yearly visits to Aalborg of Prof. Sato and his students. In turn, Ritsumeikan university invites cultural psychologists from AAU to teach at Ritsumeikan University once a year.

In addition to her teaching, Carolin Demuth gave 2 guest lectures at the department of Comprehensive Psychology and met with students and other international visiting professors.

She was also invited to give guest lectures at two other universities in Japan: at Kyoto University, Graduate School of Asian and African area studies (invitation by Prof. Takada) and at Chyoko University, dept. of psychology (invitation by Prof. Tsuchimototo).

In her role as president of the Association of European Qualitative Researchers in Psychology (EQuiP), she was furthermore able to enhance the world-wide network for qualitative researchers in psychology which the association is currently establishing by reaching out to the Japanese Association of Qualitative Psychology.

During her stay, she had the occastion to visit three different day care centres which provided good opportunities to learn more about Japanese early childhood pedagogy. At Kinugasa Kindergarten (Kyoto), she was invited together with another visiting professor to join a day of international exchange between Japanese children and a visiting group of preschool children from Singapore.

In continuation of the collaboration between AAU and Ritsumeikan University, Prof. Sato and a group of students will come to Aalborg and visit the Centre for Cultural Psychology in September.
